Since April 28th, 2014, TFE, Inc. has been managing the Oak Ridge Site Wide Waste Transportation Project. TFE's project mission is to safely and efficiently transport multiple waste profiles from the UCOR Accelerated Cleanup Project sites, including the Y-12 Plant, East Tennessee Technology Park (ETTP), and ORNL. The waste is delivered to the Oak Ridge Reservation Sanitary Landfill, the Environmental Management Waste Management Facility (EMWMF). To transport the waste, TFE has around 40 conveyance units on site, including oversized tri-axle dump trucks, flatbeds, RGN lowboys, Vangos, PUP trailers, tractors, 2 water trucks, and roll-off trucks. TFE also manages and maintains the 8-mile haul road between ETTP and EMWMF, built by the Department of Energy (DOE) specifically for this transportation scope of work.
The TFE's Waste Transportation Project requires specialized knowledge, experience and understanding in the areas of regulatory, security, transportation, environmental, safety and health requirements, and employee relations. TFE has overcome the challenges of meeting generator requirements while safely and compliantly managing the shipment of in excess of 40.000 loads of wates with the same rigor as all of our projects, while achieving an excellent safety record and project culture.
- A haul road was constructed by DOE and is managed by TFE specifically for this project that mitigates the risks and hazards associated with this scope of work by eliminating interaction with normal public traffic.
- Safety programs and incentives emphasize personal responsibility of workers for following all traffic rules, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, and Department of Transportation Regulations.
This subcontract is critical to support the overall mission of the UCOR Accelerated Cleanup Project. With a strong project team, efficient use of resources, and the ability to schedule equipment and personnel, TFE is playing a significant role in the success of our UCOR client and other Contractors and Subcontractors across the Oak Ridge Reservation.
