FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

TFE, Inc. Breaks Ground on New Carlsbad Regional Records Center

CARLSBAD, N.M.– TFE, Inc. today broke ground on a new records center in support of operations at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP).

The new records center, scheduled to open in 2017, will meet the latest standards as established by the National Archives and Records Administration and will provide nearly 19,000 square feet of comprehensive records management, storage, and archiving services for WIPP and Nuclear Waste Partnership, TFE’s primary client in Carlsbad. The facility will also have additional space available for other businesses in the region.

“The new facility will allow us to continue to meet our clients’ growing needs while providing customized and state of the art records services support,” said Doug Heal, President of TFE. “As a quickly expanding company, our top priority has and always will be providing the absolute best service for our customers, and the new records center will allow us to do just that."

The new records center will have a number of improved features. It will be a stand-alone facility, providing greater site security, and has a multitude of additional safety measures, including advanced fire suppression systems. Furthermore, the facility will provide triple the storage space of the previous facility while occupying a smaller footprint, making the building and operations more efficient. The site also includes room for building expansion as demand grows.

As a veteran-owned small business, TFE is committed to creating and maintaining jobs in Carlsbad. As such, the financing, construction, and operation of the new records center will be provided locally as an investment in the community and its ongoing economic development.

“The construction of this new records facility demonstrates one way that WIPP’s supply chain can benefit the community – by using their expertise to expand into new markets, creating a new Carlsbad-based business and driving economic growth,” said Phil Breidenbach, NWP President and Project Manager. “We’ve developed an extremely positive relationship with TFE and we wish them the very best of luck.”
